How does Stan Lee's autograph effect comic prices?

I have a Wolverine #1 from 1988 I got Signed by Stan a couple of years ago and someone told me it would actually decrease the value. Is this true?
Answer:
It definitely won't decrease the value unless a professional autograph authenticator (I'm not sure what they are called) claims that the signature is fake (even if it is Real). The comic subscription website that I use recently sold an issue of Fantastic Four: The Lost Adventure signed by Stan Lee for $500 mainly because it had a certificate of authenticity (Cover Price was $5). To get the signature authenticated I would recommend sending it to Cgc (a professional comic grading company). They have a "Signature Series" which are comics that have authenticated signatures so I assume that they have a professional signature authenticator that they have on their payroll.
As far as I know, the authenticator has a sample of all of Stan Lee's signatures that he has used throughout his career (some celebrities change their signatures from time to time) which he/she will compare to the signature on your comic to determine if was really signed by him or not. I watched a TV show Where they showed how authenticators verify actor/actress signatures so I assume it would be the same procedure. I'm sure there is a possibility that the authenticator may say the signature is a fake even if you personally watched Stan sign it.
